2024 Wedding Trends

2024 Wedding Trends

2024 is officially the year of the non-wedding wedding. Increasingly, couples are opting for laid-back, non-traditional weddings. Many are choosing to do away with stuffy traditions in favour of something that is more representative of their personality.

To-go wedding cake or dessert stations

The days of table service wedding cake are long over. By the time your cake has been cut into slices for your guests, they’re usually already on the dance floor – and you probably want to keep them there!

Instead, offer wedding cake slices in to-go boxes for your guests to grab on their way out. Or, if you’re not the traditional type, consider forgoing a cake completely and opt for your favourite dessert. You could package it to go, or display it in a fun and interactive dessert station.

Colourful weddings

It’s official – white and green weddings are out. Couples are embracing more unusual colours and really bringing their own personality into their wedding celebrations. 2023 was associated with pastels and neutral tones in line with the ‘quiet luxury’ trend, but we’re expecting to see bolder colours as we move into 2024.

Wedding content creators

Are you the type to always take a photo of your brunch before you tuck in? If so, a wedding content creator could be a match made in heaven for you. Wedding content creators are exclusively there to capture your big day for your socials, specialising in those beautiful little candid moments that might otherwise be missed. They provide the instant gratification we all love so much lately, giving you a bank of photos and videos to share while you wait for your official wedding photos to come back from your photographer.

Depending on the package you opt for, a wedding content creator can share a selection of photos and videos with you (normally within 24 hours). Or they can even take over posting to your account on the day, so you can focus on being present with your loved ones.

Weekender weddings

For the anxious wedding planner, a weekender wedding can remove a lot of the pressure associated with getting everything perfect on one day. Consider booking your venue for the whole weekend or choose a venue with accommodation that can hold all of your guests.

You can choose to get hitched on the first day, then party and enjoy yourself without worrying the day after! Or invite everyone for brunch the day after your wedding to reminisce and share memories of your special day.

Multi-day wedding celebrations are common in other cultures – in southeast asia, for instance – and they’re steadily making their way into Western weddings too. It’s your celebration, why not make the most of it?

Sustainable weddings

Growing your own flowers for your floral arrangements, using biodegradable décor, or opting for locally sourced/organic catering are all ways you can make your wedding more sustainable. If you’re doing wedding favours, try to ensure they’re not made from plastic. Your wedding can be a beautiful and memorable occasion for your guests – without leaving a lasting impact on the environment.

Unique live entertainment

One of the best ways to create THAT viral wedding moment all your guests will want to talk and post about. If you’ve already decided that you don’t want to stick to what is considered traditional in a wedding, the possibilities for unique wedding entertainment are endless. From themed cocktails made by a pro mixologist to aerialists and fire performers, there’s really no limit to the ways you can wow your guests.

When it comes to unique wedding entertainment, our top suggestion is a close-up magician, mind reader or mentalist. These performers roam amongst your guests, offering a personalised experience to each group of attendees.

And to kill two birds with one stone, book a magic wedding emcee for your big day.

Why hire a magic wedding emcee?

The days of stuffy, traditional weddings are over. The modern wedding is dynamic, entertaining, and memorable. While unstructured weddings are becoming more popular, there does need to be some level of direction and crowd control. The larger your guest list is, the more this applies. A magic wedding emcee is an expert in obtaining and retaining the attention of your guests. They provide all the benefits of a wedding host or wedding emcee, but they also double as entertainment!

When they’re not making announcements, a magic wedding emcee performs close-up magic and mind reading tricks for small groups of attendees. Their skills can provide that “wow” moment that will stick in the minds of your guests for weeks to come. They also help with general hosting duties and coordinate between your wedding planner, DJ, and other vendors. All you’ll need to do is focus on enjoying yourself!

A skilled magic wedding emcee is extremely adaptable, moulding their performances to suit who they are speaking to. An elderly family member likely has a different sense of humour to the housemate you lived with at university – that’s why it’s important to have entertainment that is adaptable for all audiences. Therefore, we recommend mix and mingle magic over stage shows. Close-up magic also has the effect of making participants feel special, because they have been ‘chosen’ by the magician.

Overall, a magic wedding emcee provides entertainment and humour – perfect for a laid back wedding.

Bonus tips for planning your 2024 wedding

– Start planning your wedding as early as possible – especially if you’d like to hire the venue for more than one day.
– Be flexible. Things may not always go to plan, so try to be comfortable with the idea of change.
– Don’t be afraid to break the rules. In 2024, there are no rules! This is YOUR big day, so don’t be afraid to truly make it your own.
– Have fun! Your wedding is one of the happiest days of your life. Enjoy the process from start to finish.
